97 Points, Platinum Medal and Best of Show distinction at the 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards, this full-bodied red from Guarda Rios is outstanding for the price. No small feat, this charming red tied or beat out big names from Napa like Trefethen, Clos de Val, Joel Gott, Hahn and DuMol. The rise of these table reds from Portugal's Douro region started when The Wine Spectator dedicated two cover features to red wines from the Douro, asking whether or not Portugal could bring their reds to a "Grand Cru" level. Later that year, thee of Wine Spectator's Top 5 wines were from the Douro. Rich and complex with red berried fruits, and well integrated oak gives the tannins a round and polished feel.
